Math queen

This term in maths we have been learning a variety of strand work with Matua Hemara. What I found hard was learning how to do the graphs and doing the task questions. What I found easy was drawing the graphs. I hope you enjoy my strand work.

Plastic not fantastic!

This week I have been learning how to use a counter argument in my persuasive writing. What I found hard was trying to put a counter argument in my writing. What I found easy was getting the facts to back up my ideas. Enjoy my writing:)

I believe Kaikohe should be plastic bag free. Plastic bags are destructive, non-biodegradable and they are made of non-renewable resources. Isn't this heartbreaking? So, do you think Kaikohe should become a plastic bag free town? Yes or No?

If we stop plastic bags in our town we will save so much innocent marine animals lives. Plastic bags can choke or poison fish, animals and birds. Do you know how much marine animals die from plastic bags each year? 100000, this is so disappointing! Right now you might be thinking why should we be plastic bag free anyway they're just animals. You should be plastic bag free because our vulnerable animals die they do have feeling you know. So come on Kaikohe save our animals!

You must also think of or environment, plastic bags are ruining our environment at least half of the litter blown from landfills is some kind of plastic, mostly plastic bags. Added to this the ingredients used to make plastic bags are awful one of the ingredients is petroleum and petroleum is bad because people have to dig it up. Our environment is way more important than plastic bags.

Furthermore, visual pollution is growing in Kaikohe. A major thing that plastic bags do to our town is make it look hideous our town could be so gorgeous but instead all of the plastic bags that fly from our landfills and become litter ruin that chance. So Kaikohe should be plastic bag free.

Making types of plastic can damage someone's health. For example when making polyvinyl chloride plastic you could get cancer, skin diseases, deafness, vision failure, indigestion, and liver dysfunction. This is so dangerous! Kaikohe can make a change and put a stop to this.

In summary I think Kaikohe should become plastic bag free. It is unfair that our amazing marine animals have to suffer because of us and that our environment has to be filthy. So what do you want to have a beautiful town and all animals safe or animals dying from choking on plastic bags. Come on Kaikohe make a wise decision.

Integers!

This week Te hanah and I have been working on a math DLO on what we learnt around integers. What I enjoyed about doing this was that me and Te hanah made this movie in the weekends. What I found difficult was making the two separate screencastify into one movie but I still done it anyways.   

Maori masters!

This week we were learning to increase my Maori vocabulary. What I found hard was trying to pronounce the Maori words what I found easy was translating the English word into the Maori word. I hope you enjoy my video.

Rubbish,Rubbish,Rubbish!!!

WALT use linking phrases between paragraphs to support the development of the text. I am trying to persuade people to think that throwing all rubbish in the bin is bad. What I found hard was getting information to back my ideas up. What i enjoyed was learning all the stuff that I did from researching. I hope you enjoy.

The world is growing with more rubbish everyday we need to reduce amounts of our rubbish to help our environment. Do you agree or disagree? Rubbish is really awful. I think that we shouldn't put all of our waste in the landfills.

Furthermore, rubbish is being  dumped into landfills and is ruining our environment It is a fact that 60% of the rubbish gets  buried this is disgraceful. Added to this, landfills generate methane a greenhouse gas and a lot of us know that greenhouse gases speed up global warming and if landfills leak leachate and there is a aquifer near by, the poison will go into it and affect the water.

You must also think of or environment. Did you know when you add organic waste to landfills the organic waste doesn't receive enough oxygen when it is buried so when it breaks down it breaks down into methane or CO2 (carbon dioxide) and carbon dioxide ruins the ozone layer which also creates global warming which then will create climate change this is how much destruction rubbish can make so try and not put organic waste in landfills.

An equally significant reason why reducing the amount of rubbish we send to landfills is we will help our environment and slow down pollution. People are throwing plastic bottles and other rubbish into the sea you probably think that it is not that bad well you're totally wrong. The currents in the ocean take all this rubbish to a place called the Pacific Garbage Patch,  search it up and you will be disgusted. Be a part of the solution, not the pollution.

In summary we should stop throwing so much rubbish in landfills think about the environment.

Today we have been making goals for out parent teacher interviews here is my one. What I found hard was getting the right background that lets others read my writing. What I found easy was doing all the work and writing all of my information. I hope you enjoy my goals.

Ripping tags. #SPORTY.

Today Tehanah and I have been learning how to unpack our learning task our task was to promote rippa rugby and encourage people to play rippa rugby. We have made a sensational movie trailer to encourage our viewers that rippa rugby is really fun. What I found difficult was making the movie and getting the timing right and checking punctuation Our next step is to try and make the text slow down so people can read it.
